Drone Photography in Yorkshire: Halo Vue’s Yorkshire Life Magazine Feature

Meet the man who films drone shots for TV shows in Yorkshire

From the Sky to the Screen

Back in early 2023, Halo Vue was featured in Yorkshire Life Magazine — and that still feels like one of those proud Yorkshire moments you never quite forget. The piece, titled “From the Sky to the Screen,” celebrated the rise of drone photography in Yorkshire and highlighted how we’ve worked to capture the region’s beauty from above.

As a Yorkshire-based aerial filming company, seeing Halo Vue in print was a genuine highlight. It wasn’t just about recognition — it was about being part of a creative community that shares our love for this amazing part of the world.

How It Happened

At the time, we’d been filming across Yorkshire for more than a decade — from the rolling Dales and rugged coastline to the skylines of Leeds, York and Sheffield. Our work had already appeared in TV and film productions, tourism campaigns, and branded content. So when Yorkshire Life reached out, it felt like a real honour to tell our story.

The feature, written by John Foster, explored Halo Vue’s journey — from early experiments with drone footage to creating cinematic visuals for television and commercial projects. John perfectly captured what we’re about: storytelling through aerial cinematography, and helping people see familiar places from entirely new angles.

Our Gratitude

A huge thank-you to John Foster and the Yorkshire Life team for shining a light on our work and taking the time to understand the passion behind it. That article was a genuine milestone that introduced Halo Vue to a wider audience and brought even more opportunities our way.

Looking Back (and Up)

That Yorkshire Life feature came at a time when drone filming in Yorkshire was really beginning to take off — literally and figuratively. It gave people a glimpse of the skill, planning and patience that goes into every aerial shot, and it reminded us how powerful this medium can be for storytelling.

Since then, Halo Vue has continued to grow — collaborating with production companies, creating promotional films, and capturing breathtaking landscapes across the UK. But our heart remains here in Yorkshire. Every time we fly over Whitby, York, Leeds or the Dales, we’re reminded why drone photography in Yorkshire is so rewarding — the views are unbeatable, and the people are even better.

The Journey Continues

That moment in Yorkshire Life Magazine was a proud chapter in our story, and it still inspires us to keep pushing boundaries with every project. So here’s a proper thank-you once again to Yorkshire Life and John Foster for featuring Halo Vue, and to everyone who’s supported us since.

If you’re looking for drone photography or aerial filming in Yorkshire, whether it’s for TV, branded content or a creative campaign, we’d love to help bring your story to life — one flight at a time.

Cheers,
Phil Fearnley
